Vision
Be a leading School of Liberal Arts, providing a central institution for languages and cultures in the Greater Mae Khong Sub-region.

Vision definitions:

  • Leading School of Liberal Arts refers to:
    1. an institution with curriculums that aim to produce qualified graduates that serve the needs of communities in the Greater Mae Khong sub-region;
    2. an institution with international-published academic research with an emphasis on knowledge of languages and cultures in the Greater Mae Khong sub-region;  
    3. an institution which provides academic services for communities in the Greater Mae Khong sub-region; and
    4. an institution attended by students from communities in the Greater Mae Khong sub-region.
  • A central institution for languages refers to an institution focused on languages used in the Greater Mae Khong sub-region with an emphasis on Thai and English.
  • The Greater Mae Khong sub-region refers to the following countries: People’s Republic of China, Kingdom of Thailand, Laos PDR, Kingdom of Cambodia, The Republic of the Union of Myanmar and The Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
  • In the initial phase, the target areas in the Greater Mae Khong sub-region include south China, Thailand’s upper northern provinces (Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Payao, Phrae, Nan, Mae Hong Son, Lanpang, Lampun and Tak), Laos PDR and The Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Missions

  1. Educational arrangements
    To provide courses in humanities for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees as well as general education courses. 
  2. Research
    To produce research that aims to enhance the knowledge of various humanities disciplines. 
  3. Academic services
    To provide courses and training for personnel from both private and public sectors with the aim of enhancing their knowledge of Thai, English and ASEAN languages. 
  4. Art and culture promotion
    To promote, support and organize activities that emphasize cultural diversity.
