Categories: Libaral Arts-AnnouncementsChiang Rai Municipality and Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) have initiated discussions on a collaborative partnership to strengthen foreign language education and enhance communication skills among youth and residents in Chiang Rai.
On 18 June 2026, Dr.Wanchai Jongsuttanamanee, Mayor of Chiang Rai Municipality, together with municipal executives and officials, met with Associate Professor Dr. Sorabud Rungrojsuwan, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, and faculty members from Mae Fah Luang University to explore opportunities for cooperation in language education and human resource development.
The meeting focused on promoting learning opportunities in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, with the shared goal of preparing learners for an increasingly interconnected world and supporting Chiang Rai’s development as a tourism destination, educational centre, and regional economic gateway.
As a key outcome of the discussion, both institutions agreed to further develop plans for establishing a Foreign Language Learning Center that would serve school-age youth, out-of-school learners, and the general public. Additional areas of collaboration include language training programmes, academic and community engagement activities, knowledge exchange initiatives, and the provision of language education expertise.
The proposed partnership aims to broaden access to quality language learning, strengthen employability and international communication skills, and create greater educational opportunities for local communities. The discussion represents an important step toward a sustainable collaboration between Chiang Rai Municipality and Mae Fah Luang University in supporting lifelong learning and enhancing the global competencies of Chiang Rai citizens.
The School of Liberal Arts looks forward to contributing its academic expertise and multilingual resources to support the development of Chiang Rai as a learning city and an internationally connected community.
