The assessment methods of the Communicative English subject in the Proficiency Examination before Graduation (Exit Examination) consist of the use of the online English language learning program (20%) and the Communicative English exam in the Proficiency Examination before Graduation (Exit Examination) administered by the Division of Registrar (80%).

  1. What academic years are students affected by the collection of Communicative English Exit Exam scores?

The Communicative English Exit Exam will be applied to undergraduate students who enrolled at the beginning of the academic year 2022 (Code 65), with the exception of Native English Speakers. However, students who enroll beginning with the 2021 academic year will continue to take the same 100% Exit Exam.

  1. How can you collect 20% of your Communicative English Exit Exam score?

Every semester, students are required to enroll in and complete exercises from the university's English language skill development program, as announced by the School of Liberal Arts each year.

When students choose a language level to enroll in, they must complete the exercises and tests at the end of each chapter according to the specified conditions. Each semester, students will receive 5% of their total points. Students will receive 20% of their cumulative score after completing four semesters, adding to the remaining 80% of their Exit Exam scores.

  1. When can I begin accumulating points?

For the academic year 2022, the university provides students with the English Discoveries program, which they can use to learn English independently and earn 20% on the Communicative English Exit Exam.

  1. How do I access the English Discoveries program?

The program is available to students via the website: https://ed.engdis.com/thai

The username is student ID, and the password is the last 5 digits of the student ID (the same account used in the IE/IEE course).

Students with an account can access the program beginning October 18, 2022. Students exempted from the IE course must apply for a new account. They will be able to use the program within three business days of filling out the information to request a new account.

Students must complete lessons in all units from ONE of the following levels:

  • Intermediate 1

  • Intermediate 2

  • Intermediate 3

  • Advanced 1

  • Advanced 2

  • Advanced 3

The level may be selected freely based on each student’s preference or placement test result. However, the lessons students choose to do in the following semester must be at a higher level, e.g., first semester, Intermediate 1, next semester, Intermediate 2, or higher.

  1. Can I earn more points from the English Discoveries program if I fail the Exit Exam administered by the Division of Registration?

If a student gets less than 20 points, they can go back to the English Discoveries program to get more points, but those points won't count until the next semester.

For example, suppose a student has 17 points from year 1 to year 3 but fails to pass the two-round exit exam organized by the division of registration. In that case, he or she can continue using the English Discoveries program to obtain the remaining 3 points. After the end of the second semester in year 3, the score will be adjusted to 20 points, and students can use this score for the next semester.

  1. Is it possible for me to skip the Communicative English Exit Exam?

Students can replace the Communicative English subject result in the Proficiency Examination before Graduation (Exit Examination) with other English proficiency test results in the semester that they are eligible to sit the exam. The results must be greater than or equivalent to B2 level of the CEFR and their date must not exceed 2 years from the exam date. The replacement of the Communicative English subject result in the Proficiency Examination before Graduation (Exit Examination) with other English proficiency test results is voluntary for students. The payment of fees for taking other English proficiency tests is the responsibility of students.

  1.  Is it possible for me to skip the English Discoveries program?

If students do not want to use the English Discoveries program, they can take the Communicative English Exit Exam as usual. Students must get at least 60% of the total points for the Exit Exam, though, because they don't have 20% of the reward points from taking the English Discoveries program.

If students are unable to complete the program within the semesters, the system will keep the points, which will be combined with the scores from the Communicative English Exit Exam as described above.
